Jonathan Kaufman, Quantitative
Research Director
Jonathan
Kaufman heads Solem's public opinion research practice. He developed
this field as a business center for the agency. As a result, the
agency regularly conducts surverys and focus groups for clients,
including private companies, public agencies, nonprofit organizations
and political campaigns.
The research
focuses on public policy issues, helping clients understand the
complex and subtle ways citizens understand and relate to issues
affecting client programs and client efforts to influence public
policy.
Among his projects,
Jon has designed research programs to test attitudes toward healthcare
and medical services for a number of Bay Area hospitals, tested
attitudes toward public services for local government agencies and
public utilities and conducted research on attitudes toward ballot
measures and candidates for political campaigns.
Jon received
degrees from Carleton College in Minnesota and the Maxwell School
at Syracuse University, where he was an Andrew W. Mellon Fellow
in public administration and metropolitan studies. Following graduation,
he served as a VISTA volunteer in Brooklyn, New York. He joined
Solem & Associates in 1979, formed the research business center
in 1995 and launched SA|Opinion Research as a separate division
in 2000.
