Jonathan Kaufman
Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs
As Executive
Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Jonathan Kaufman oversees public
relations programs for the agency's corporate clients, heads Solem's
public opinion research practice and serves on the agency's management
committee. He has been with Solem since 1979.
Jon specializes
in public affairs for clients in the areas of real estate development,
heavy industry, public utilities and other fields where public policy
and public opinion affect the business community. His work includes
preparation and execution of public communication campaigns to build
support for various client projects and positions and public relations
counsel on major regulatory, environmental and crisis communication
situations.
Examples of
major public affairs clients Jon has managed include Lloyd's
of London, Bechtel, Shell and Pacific
Gas and Electric Company. His work with these and other clients
has involved media relations, governmental advocacy, coalition building,
public education, political campaign management and public opinion
research.
Jon has degrees
from Carleton College in Minnesota and the Maxwell School at Syracuse
University, where he was an Andrew W. Mellon Fellow in public administration
and metropolitan studies. Following graduation, he served as a VISTA
volunteer in Brooklyn, New York. He currently serves as a board
member for two nonprofit organizations in the Bay Area.
