Debra joined Solem & Associates from the press office of U.S. Senator Tom Harkin in Washington DC. While serving as assistant press secretary, she developed and implemented statewide communication efforts for the chairman of the Labor, Health, Human Services and Education Appropriations Committee. She also worked as a DC-based staff assistant for U.S. Senator Jean Carnahan.

At Solem & Associates, Debra has managed media relations and community outreach for clients including the 2005 UN World Environment Day conference, California Building Performance Contractors Association, Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, and Pacific Gateway. In addition, Debra tracks and monitors policy matters at all levels of government to help clients reach their legislative and regulatory goals.

Debra earned a B.A. in Political Science and Broadcast Communications at Northwest Missouri State University and also studied at the European Parliament in Brussels. A San Francisco resident, she is actively involved in community service.
